BY-1902 metal cleaning agent
Suitable for steel and continuous coil units
1 Introduction
BY-1902 is designed for steel, hot-dip galvanized, electrogalvanized and aluminium surfaces and is spray-treated for sheet and strip. This highly alkaline cleaner is especially recommended for cleaning prior to the no-clean conversion coating process.

4. Equipment
The tanks, jackets, pumps and pipes used in the process solution can be made of mild steel. When using the spray method, if the nozzle is made of 300 series stainless steel, the maintenance is very simple. The heat exchanger should be made of 316 stainless steel. If steam is used to heat the tubes, they should be made of 80 gauge carbon steel tubing or equivalent. All process circulation pumps, valve seals and other elastomeric materials in contact with the working solution shall be nitrile rubber, polyethylene synthetic rubber, and avoid the use of EPDM.
5. Clean with BY-1902 solution
Prepare 1000 liters of solution | aluminum | Steel and electro-galvanized | Hot galvanizing |
BY-1902 | 20 - 40liters | 20 - 50 liters | 10 - 30 liters |
Inject three-quarters of the cold water into the wash tank, add the appropriate amount of chemicals and stir or circulate to dissolve. Add enough water to raise the liquid level to the working level and then heat to the operating temperature.
operating | |
time | 5 -25econds |
temperature | |
Steel and galvanized sheet | 60 -80°C |
aluminum | 50 -60°C |
The cleaning fluid gradually accumulates grease and contaminants. When the pollution affects the subsequent process, the cleaning solution should be discarded. We recommend the use of an automatic overflow device to continuously discard a portion of the bath.
After cleaning, the metal should be sprayed through one or more stages of hot water and thoroughly rinsed. The rinse water should overflow continuously at a rate to keep it clean and prevent foaming and contamination.
6. Testing and control
Can not be sucked with the mouth, but with a suction ball.
For steel and zinc surface processes
Free base
Pipette 10 ml ml sample into 150 ml cone beaker, dilute to 50 ml with deionized water, add 5 drops of phenolphthalein indicator, titrate with 0.1N hydrochloric acid solution until the last drop to make the sample pink disappear until. The number of milliliters of the 0.1 N hydrochloric acid solution consumed is the number of points of the free base.
Free base range : rated ±1.0 for best
Each additional 1.0 free base points: 2 liters BY-1902 / 1000 liters of bath
The strength of the cleaning solution increases or decreases depending on the type of inorganic contaminant, the time available, and the equipment used.
Total alkali
Pipette 10 ml ml sample into a 150 ml cone beaker, dilute to 50 ml with deionized water, add 5 drops of bromophenol green indicator, titrate with 0.1 N hydrochloric acid solution to the last drop to make the sample color From blue to green, it finally disappears. The number of milliliters of the 0.1 N hydrochloric acid solution consumed is the number of points of total alkali.
The total alkalinity point is used to calculate the ratio of total alkalinity/free alkalinity.
Ratio of total alkalinity / free alkalinity
Since the cleaning agent is contaminated during use, the total alkalinity will increase, so that the ratio of total alkalinity to free alkalinity will also increase, which provides a means of determining the degree of contamination of the cleaning agent.
Total alkalinity / free alkalinity: 2.0 max.
The maximum ratio of total alkalinity/free alkalinity varies with the type of metal being treated, the type of solid impurities on the metal surface, and the operating temperature of the cleaning agent. Our representative will help establish this maximum.
The cleaning agent bath can be periodically discharged, continuous overflow or automatic overflow to maintain the ratio of total alkalinity/free alkalinity not exceeding the maximum rated operating value.
For aluminum surface technology
Free base
Pipette 10 ml ml of the sample into a 150 ml conical beaker, dilute to 50 ml with deionized water, add 5 drops of phenolphthalein indicator, titrate with 0.1N hydrochloric acid solution until the last drop to remove the sample from pink until. The number of milliliters of the 0.1 N hydrochloric acid solution consumed is recorded as "A" in the following equation. In the same sample, one gram of sodium fluoride was added, the red color was reproduced, the titration tube level was reset to zero, and the solution was titrated with a 0.1 N hydrochloric acid solution until the last drop to remove the pink color. The number of milliliters of the 0.1 N hydrochloric acid solution consumed was recorded as "B" in the following equation.
Free base (dots) = A - B/3
Due to the use and contamination of the cleaning agent, the maximum value of "B" will gradually increase. The maximum value of "B" will vary for different operations. Our representative will assist in establishing the maximum value of the "B" value.
The detergent bath can be discharged periodically, with continuous overflow or automatic overflow to maintain the "B" value not exceeding the maximum rated operating value.
Free base: rated value ±1.0 is the best
For each additional 1.0 free base points: 0.2 liters TZ-1902 / 100 liters of bath
The strength of the cleaning solution increases or decreases depending on the type of inorganic contaminant, the time available, and the equipment used.
7. Storage requirements
If BY-1902 is stored above 38 °C, it may be cloudy and stratified. In this case, the product must be placed below 32 ° C and thoroughly stirred before use.
If the product freezes after storage at low temperatures, place it in a warm place and mix thoroughly before use.
8. Wastewater treatment
The relevant regulations for handling and discharging chemicals should be understood and followed.
The working bath is alkaline and contains phosphate. Neutralization or wastewater treatment may be required before the wash water or working tank drains into the sewer.
9. Precautions
The working bath is alkaline and may cause irritation to the skin and eyes. Do not touch your eyes, skin or clothing. Do not take it orally. Wear a mask, rubber gloves and anti-wear when handling. In case of contact, eyes: Immediately flush eyes directly with water for at least 15 minutes, while opening the eyelids to ensure that the eyes and eyelids are thoroughly rinsed and then see a doctor. Skin: While removing contaminated clothing and shoes, rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention if necessary.
